Club 1942 is quintessentially British, but our name was inspired by one of the most beloved American movies of all time - Casablanca

The classic love story starring Humphrey Bogart & Ingrid Bergman had its world premier in New York City on November 26, 1942

Rick and Ilsa may have sacrificed their love for the greater good, but it was profoundly heroic.

(and we like to imagine that post war, they found Paris once again)

There's magic in what we do, underpinned by skill and experience.

Club 1942 was founded by Mary-Ann & Emma Jane Henningham, a mother/daughter duo who have been successfully working together since 1998.

Matchmaking is in my DNA - even though my background includes being a Founding Director of a boutique financial services company, a stint in Sotheby’s Fine Art department and studying Auctioneering & Valuation. Second generation matchmaker, I have an innate ability to evaluate and read people - ideal for when i’m headhunting and interviewing potential matches.

Bringing together two people destined for each other is, quite frankly,

the best job in the world.

Not only do I love what I do, but I also have the privilege of working with my Mama (and Millicent - her eccentric mini dachshund). Our strong bond is built on trust and mutual respect - something which is reflected in our partnerships with clients. I look forward to working with you; and cheering from the sidelines as you begin a new chapter!

Until then, EJ

My beloved grandmother was my inspiration and the main reason I became a Matchmaker. A woman of substance and one of the kindest people you could ever hope to meet. Though she never turned professional, she used her seating arrangements and gentle influence to great effect. The results of which were often firm friendships and long and happy marriages.

Two people, bound by love, can be a formidable force.

I believe i've inherited my grandmother's ability to truly listen, put clients at ease, and trust my intuition - especially as i’m also dyslexic. Feelings of inadequacy in the classroom fuelled a lifelong determination to be the best in whatever I put my mind to.  I’m proud to have become a sought-after matchmaker and hope to work with you soon...

Best wishes, Mary-Ann
